The Miami Heat were founded in 1988. They rose to prominence in the late 1990s with Alonzo Mourning and Pat Riley. In 2006, led by Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O’Neal, they won their first NBA championship.
From 2010–2014, the Heat formed the “Big Three” — LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh — winning two more titles in 2012 and 2013.
In 2020 and 2023, led by Jimmy Butler, the Heat made two more Finals appearances. After Butler’s departure in 2024, the team entered a new era with Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro as leaders.
They are known for their tough, disciplined “Heat Culture” and have won 3 NBA championships overall.
